VIDEO: Watch A Mercedes-AMG GT S Tackle Bathurst
汽车专题The Mount Panorama Circuit or better known to the local populace there as Bathurst is located in New South Wales, Australia, and plays host to two iconic races in the land down under – the Bathurst 12 Hour and Bathurst 1000.
Technically regarded as a street circuit, Mercedes-AMG saw fit to let loose its new GT S sports car on the legendary track with Bernd Schneider, five-time DTM champion and winner of the Bathurst 12 Hour, behind the wheel.
Suffice to say, the AMG brand ambassador doesn’t hold back as he unleashes the GT S’ 4.0-litre biturbo AMG V8 engine, using all of the 510hp and 650Nm of torque available to him. It’s not just all power though as he shows the car’s poise through the corners as well.
We especially enjoyed the view from a first person perspective that shows us just what it’s like in the cockpit of the GT S, including the sprint down the Conrod Straight where the car hits speed of 282km/h.
Thankfully, the video is not accompanied by generic music, but by the wonderful acoustics of the V8 engine and tyre squealing, making you appreciate the Mercedes-AMG GT S even more.
