VIDEO: How To Not Keep Your SUV On The Road During A Countryside Drive

As with nearly all dashcam footage that’s shown on the internet, there is either shocking or funny (or both) footage to be enjoyed and/or cringed at. This is no different, and serves as a little reminder of how not to drive, not matter how much of a rush you are in or how clear the road may be.

On to the video. The driver of the white Toyota RAV4 ahead is very insistent on getting past everyone – something we’re used to seeing on Malaysian roads as well. Obviously car isn’t a particularly fast one, but that is apparently no deterrent. So the RAV4 proceeds to overtake some cars in the kind of manner that speaks volumes about the driver’s patience, negatively.

The road itself - riddled with patches, uneven surfaces and without clearly visible lane lines - doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Towards the end of the clip, the driver with the dashcam fitted overtakes the RAV4, only for the white SUV to come past at speed. It’s quite an empty stretch of road, he must be thinking, and perhaps some liberties can be taken with regards to cornering speed.

Bad move.

The white RAV4 underestimates the corner angle and slithers onto the dirt of the opposite lane’s curb and, in a knee-jerk reaction, turns the wheel hard the other way to escape back onto the grippier tarmac. But by then it’s too late, and into the high grass it goes. At speed.

The RAV4 tumbles and rolls numerous times before stopping, thankfully, the right way up. Nasty. We’re not sure what happens to the driver or the passengers (if any), but after the bouncing around they took it doesn’t look like they’d exit the car unscathed.

This is the second occasion of ameteur video footage we've posted of a Toyota RAV4 behaving, let's say, ungracefully. The previous one was when a red coloured one ran over a motorcycle at a traffic light

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
