Subaru XV GT Edition Launched In Malaysia – From RM130,788

Based on the Subaru XV 2.0i-P, the GT Edition is a special edition variant of the highest specification XV. With a list price of RM130,788, the XV GT Edition costs RM12,000 more than the 2.0i-P.

The additional RM12,000 buys you:

• Front bumper with silver garnish lip extension and integrated canards
• Side skirts with silver garnish
• Roof spoiler
• Rear bumper extension               
• 17-inch alloy wheels
• GT Edition carpets
• Black leather seats with silver and orange stitching
• Reverse camera with dual-side (covering left- and right-side, as well as rear, but not 360-degree)

As before, the model is locally-assembled at the Tan Chong Motor Assemblies plant in Segambut, Selangor.

More than just a regular accessorized XV, the XV GT Edition is the result of a collaboration between TC Subaru’s parent company Motor Image Group, engineering company Giken Co. LTD., and ex-Subaru designer Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi.

Giken is a maker of various industrial equipment, including those used by automotive plants. Like Subaru, Giken has ties with the aviation industry, and is a global supplier of aero parts.

When he was with Subaru between 1993 and 2018, Kobayashi was responsible for the first generation XV, first generation Outback, Levorg, as well as several generations of Legacy and Impreza.

Prior to its introduction in Malaysia, the XV GT Edition has already gone on sale in Thailand and Philippines. The XV GT is exclusive for markets covered by Motor Image Group. After Malaysia, the model will be introduced to Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Motor Image has plans for further collaborations with Giken and Kobayashi, involving the Forester, Levorg, WRX, and WRX STI.
