Spyshot: New Toyota Yaris Caught In Malaysia, Launching Soon?

Visitors visiting the Toyota booth at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (2018 KLIMS) would have noticed that UMW Toyota Motor brought out two units of the new Vios. But curiously enough, the new Yaris was nowhere to be seen.

Fret not, as the new Toyota Yaris has been caught undergoing homologation as our friends over at Funtasticko just published spyshots of the new hatchback.

The Yaris you see here was introduced in Thailand as a facelift back in September 2017, updating the five year old model with a new interior and exterior design. Thailand receives a 1.2-litre 3NR-FE engine, taking advantage of the country’s Eco-car incentives.

Other markets including Singapore and Indonesia receive a larger 1.5-litre engine lifted from the Vios, outputting 105 hp and 140 Nm. Like the Vios, the Yaris is expected to feature a CVT-type automatic transmission.

If priced right, the upcoming Toyota Yaris should give the Honda Jazz, Proton Iriz, and Perodua Myvi a run for their money when it arrives. We predict that the new model will be launched some time in 2019.
