Spyshot: Geely Boyue-based Proton SUV Spied, RHD Mule Completed
所有资讯Proton’s first-ever SUV, based on the Geely Boyue has been caught in Malaysia, more specifically in Juru. No surprises there, as the Hangzhou-based company has previewed its C-segment SUV last year.
What is surprising is that these photos apparently indicate that a right-hand drive mule is completed. Interestingly, it appears that Proton is using a fleet of both right-hand and left-hand drive test mules of the Boyue for local evaluation.
According to several Facebook posts, some Proton dealers will be showcasing the Geely Boyue at their respective showroom, albeit in left-hand drive format. The post did mention that there will be several units of the Boyue on display, comprising of both 2WD and 4WD models. Despite that, powertrain details remain scarce, although it is likely Proton will be utilizing Geely’s proven powertrains for its new SUV.
A report by The Malaysian Reserve said that the new Geely Boyue-based Proton SUV will be ready by Q4 this year, as the SUV will need to undergo both SIRIM and NCAP assessments before it can be launched. The source also told The Malaysian Reserve that the new Proton SUV will be a game changer in the C-segment SUV market, which is currently dominated by the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V.
