Post-GST: Sales Tax Confirmed At 10 Percent, Service Tax At 6 Percent

The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that Sales and Services Tax (SST) will return in September and that the rate will be set at 10 percent for sales and 6 percent for services, according to a report by Malay Mail. As before, sales tax will be levied on purchase of goods while service tax will be levied on commercial services. 

The new tax system, which replaces the previous 6 percent GST, will be enforced once it is passed by the Parliament, which is set to convene in August.
