Porsche Launches New Macan, From RM 455,000

One of Porsche's best sellers has finally received an update for our local market - it's the new Porsche Macan, launched at Porsche Centre Sungai Besi with a price that starts from RM 455,000. This base model variant comes with a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-4 engine that puts out a good 252 hp and 370 Nm of torque - a mild improvement courtesy of better combustion chamber geometry. Metrics stand at 6.7 seconds for the century sprint, with a top speed of 225 km/h and a quoted fuel consumption of 8.1 litres per 100 kilometers.

The most obvious changes for the Macan are in the design, with a new light strip that runs the width of the rear - in line with the most current 911 and Cayman/Boxster models. There is a three-dimensional LED light panel at the rear as well, along with full LED headlights as standard and an optional Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus which will adaptively distribute lighting as you drive around.

From the front, the Macan looks wider as the edges of the bumper feature more vertical motifs, emulating that of their Le Mans winning 919 Hybrid car. Four new exterior colours are available - Mamba Green Metallic (as shown here), Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue (a popular choice among 911 owners), and Crayon (another popular choice for the 911 GT3 RS). Wheel diameters start at 18 inches as standard, and go up to 21 inches depending on which options you tick.

On the inside, the dashboard gets a minor update courtesy of a 10.9-inch touchscreen that takes up the lion's share of the available space. Considerably larger than its 7.2-inch predecessor, the interface can be adapted to suit personal requirements through personalized tiles - similar in operation to the Panamera and Cayenne. Connectivity is better as well, with two audio interfaces and intelligent voice control adding another layer of convenience. 

Being a Porsche, there are plenty of options and ways to customize the Macan. A GT sports steering wheel and the ever present Sport Chrono package offer a sportier edge to the already sporty utility vehicle, with an air ioniser and heated windscreen popping up on the available options as well. The Macan Premium Package adds comfort and luxury features such as 14-way power seats with memory function, a comfort lighting package, Power Steering Plus, Park Assist including reversing camera, auto dimming mirrors, and a BOSE Surround Sound system.
