Peugeot 308 Facelift Debuts With New 8 Speed Automatic

The facelifted Peugeot 308 has been revealed ahead of its first public appearance at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The new model featuring various enhancements, including a new eight-speed automatic transmission. These official images come shortly after pictures of the new 308 facelift were leaked onto the Internet a month ago.

For the new Peugeot 308, a new front grille coupled with a sportier front bumper. The company says that the new front bumper gets larger air intake for better engine cooling. The familiar three-claw tail light is retained from the current model.

Inside, Peugeot mentioned that the new 308 gets a new Mirror Screen, compatible with MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard layout remains identical to the outgoing model. Park Assist is also new, on top of the new Visiopark 1 with a rear view camera. 

Elsewhere, Peugeot is introducing eight new driver assistance systems on the new 308, including Active Safety Brake and Active Lane Departure Warning.

The facelifted Peugeot 308 is also the first model from PSA to include active cruise control that can bring the vehicle to a full stop for automatic transmission models or a 30 km/h for manual transmission models.

Last but not least is the new range of petrol and diesel engines. For the Peugeot 308 GT, this model receives a new BlueHDi 180 S&S diesel engine mated to a new eight-speed EAT8 automatic transmission, co-developed with Aisin. There's also the new BlueHDi 130 S&S diesel, making its debut on the new Peugeot 308. 

For those who prefer a petrol-powered model, there is the new PureTech 130 S&S turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, which features a high-precision injection control to improve combustion efficiency and a new catalytic converter with passive-regeneration gasoline particle filter. The petrol engine can be had with a new six-speed manual.
