Nissan Navara Earns 4-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating

Nissan’s seminal pick-up truck, the Nissan NP300 Navara, has undergone its trial by fire – earning an overall 4-star rating in the New Car Assessment Program for South East Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

The NP300 Navara earned a 12.34 score in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), but did not fare too well in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category – managing only a 2-star rating with 37% compliance.

The 2.5 E Double Cab (MT) variant, benchmarked in the test, is not offered in Malaysia with ABS, EBD or Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Two airbags are offered as standard, as are ISOFIX anchors on the two outer rear passenger seats. However, the variant uses the rear seatbelts instead of a top tether as the child restraint system, which hampered its ratings in the COP category.

Further up in the NP300 Navara range, the 2.5 (MT) SE variant offers two-airbags, ABS, EBD, and ESC and standard.
