Motor Expo 2016: Another Look At The 2017 New Toyota Corolla Altis
购买指南As reported earlier, UMW Toyota Motor has already begun order taking for the new Toyota Corolla Altis. The facelifted Altis is easily differentiated by its new pair of headlamps, grille and front bumper.
More importantly, active and passive safety features have been significantly improved. Seven airbags and electronic stability control (or VSC as Toyota calls it) are now no longer limited to the highest-specifications variant, but are available across the Corolla Altis range as a standard feature.
The new Corolla Altis have been on sale in Thailand for some months already, and while minor details like interior colour, trimmings and wheels fitted on this particular Thailand market model, on display at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2016, might differ from our Malaysian market models it’s still a good enough indicator of what’s coming our way.
The interior has been refreshed with a new pair ala Mercedes-Benz A-Class style air-conditioning vents at the sides, while rear passengers now have access to two USB ports.
Note that in Thailand, there is no 2.0-litre engine option for the Corolla Altis. Ever since the new CO2 emissions-based excise duty structure came into force this year, the Corolla Altis’ range of engines have been reduced to just the 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre Dual VVT-i engines.
The new Toyota Corolla Altis is expected to go on sale in Malaysia within the next two months.
