Mercedes-Benz E300 (W213), Now Available As CKD In Malaysia, From RM388,888

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has today re-introduced the E300, now as a locally-assembled model. The current W213 generation E300 was first introduced in 2017 as a fully-imported (CBU) model. It was sold in limited numbers before it was discontinued to make room for the locally-assembled E350e plug-in hybrid. The new E300 is now assembled alongside the E200 and E250 in Pekan, Pahang, which also makes a variety of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars including the Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan and GLC43 SUV.

Priced from RM388,888, the new CKD Mercedes-Benz E300 is RM70,000 cheaper than its fully-imported predecessor.

Also, the new Mercedes-Benz E300 will succeed the E350e here in Malaysia. Yes, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will be discontinuing the E350e (last sold at RM370,690 for Exclusive, RM377,293 for AMG Line). MBM says the discontinuation of the E350e is related to the limited volume of tax-deductable vehicles granted to the E350e. On whether will the C350e be discontinued as well, MBM was tight-lipped but alluded that the greater consideration behind its recent moves has more to do with the need for greater clarity in the longer term for Malaysia's National Automotive Policy (NAP). In other words, MBM cannot commit itself into assembling more plug-in hybrid vehicles until the government provides a clearer long-term direction with regards to EEV incentives. 

Similar to the CBU model that was introduced back in 2017, the new E300 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 245 hp and 370 Nm, delivered to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
