Mercedes-AMG A35 Hatchback Launched! 306PS, RM380k

When the Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic Sedan was launched last September, most of those who were present only had one question in mind – “When is the hatchback coming?”

After making us wait for nine months, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia finally unleashed the highly anticipated hatchback sibling via a digital launch earlier today.

Sitting between the A250 and the A45 in the model range, the A35 hatchback is priced at RM379,888 on the road without insurance, which is about RM30,000 more than the sedan.

Powering the A 35 hatch here is the M260 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger which produces 306 PS and 400 Nm of torque, and paired to the engine is the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G dual clutch transmission which delivers power to all four wheels via the 4MATIC AWD system.

Capable of sprinting from naught to 100 in 4.7 seconds, the A35 hatch is also able to clock an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

Offered in limited Edition 1 package, AMG Aerodynamics package, and also the Night package, the A35 hatch comes with the radiator grille with twin louvres, AMG Line front apron with flics on the air intakes, a front splitter, silver chrome trims around the outer air intakes, 19-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, a new rear diffuser insert, as well as a rear spoiler and twin exhaust pipes.

Only one colour is available for the Mercedes-AMG A35 Edition 1, which is the metallic denim blue we’re looking at here, with decals in matt Tech Gold on the exterior mirror caps and in the lower part of the doors, paired with the exclusive 19-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt Tech Gold with a high-sheen finish.

Inside, the A35 AMG comes fitted with AMG Performance seats in black Artico man-made leather, an AMG Performance Nappa leather flat-bottom steering wheel, as well as AMG emblems with black and silver accents.

The list of standard equipment includes the MBUX infotainment system comprising two 10.25-inch screens, a head-up display, wireless charging for phones, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as the Track Pace racing data logger.
