MAI Pushing For 100% EEV by 2025
所有资讯By 2025, Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) expects all new models to be only energy efficient vehicles (EEV).
Speaking to SunBiz, MAI boss Datuk Madani Sahari said, “I believe by 2025, all new models to be sold in Malaysia will definitely be EEVs.”
As of 2016, the penetration of EEV is 42.8%, exceeding MAI’s original target of 40%. He said that 42.8% is a good achievement, as it shows that car manufacturers are adjusting their business plans in line with the NAP 2014.
Despite that, it does not mean that all vehicles on the road will be EEVs by 2025, as there will be older vehicles that aren’t EEVs.
For 2017, MAI expects the EEV penetration to reach 50%. Three years later in 2020, the penetration rate is expected to be 80%.
Currently, 59 new vehicles sold in Malaysia have been certified by MAI as an EEV, which includes the Perodua Bezza, Perodua Axia, Honda City, Honda Jazz, Toyota Vios, Toyota Fortuner, among others.
