The National Road Transport (JPJ) and Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) will begin a crackdown on the sale and fixture of unauthorised car accessories this year.

A meeting on the joint operation has already been held between the two authorities, JPJ Director General Datuk Ismail Ahma told Bernama.

“We have 25,000 auto accessory shops throughout the country as against more than 24 million vehicles on the road. It will be tedious for our enforcement,” said Ismail Ahmad when speaking to reporters after breaking fast with the JPJ workforce last night.

Although the JPJ have engineers and technical officers with expert knowledge in auto accessories to handle the job, Ismail said that enforcement would be more effective if they work together KPDNKK.

Recently, it was reported that car accessories which did not follow JPJ specifications were being sold profusely in the country.
