Johor once again gets hit by flash floods, over 1,500 victims evacuated

Flash floods have hit several districts in Johor, with over 1,000 victims transferred to evacuation centres.


The continuous rain since yesterday has caused some flashfloods in Johor, with A total of 1,591 victims from four of the four districts having to be evacuated to  21 temporary evacuation centres (PPS).

According to Bernama's report, Among the locations hit by flash floods are Kampung Plentong Baru, Jalan Kangkong, Jalan Mawar, Jalan Kongkong dan Jalan Bunga Tanjung yang terletak di Masai. Selain itu, lokasi lain termasuk Batu 19, Sungai Tiram, Kluang, Jalan Sungai Tiram (Senai), Chaah (Segamat), Labis, Kangkar Tebrau, Kota Tinggi dan Kota Masai.

"We hope that road users plan their journeys as there are some roads flooded and landslides in some districts," said JKR Johor.

Some of the roads affected are Kluang-Mersing (Padang Hijau), Jalan Mohd Salim, Jalan Jemaluang Batu Pahat di daerah Mersing, dan beberapa jalan di Kota Tinggi (Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, Jalan Kota Kecil, Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang (Kampung Jawa), Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Habab) dan Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang (Kampung Batu 25).

This unfortunate flooding is a stark reminder to Malaysians that the MET department (METMalaysia) expects heavy rain to continue until this Thursday in several states.
