Jalan TAR To Be Closed To All Vehicles Except Buses Starting 15th March 2019

Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) will be closed off to all vehicles except buses, starting March 15th, 2019 to accommodate local traders and shoppers alike.

According to The Malay Mail, the approximately one-kilometre stretching from the Sogo Shopping Complex to Wisma Bandar will be closed for the safety of shoppers in the area. DBKL also plans to rent out (up to 200) lots to traders with business licenses to operate stalls during the Ramadan period and other festive seasons if the road closure is deemed to be successful.

Federal Territories minister Khalid Abd Samad said DBKL had conducted an online survey prior to announcing the road closure, where a majority of respondents had agreed with the closure.

Samad said the move, in addition to the safety of pedestrian and shoppers, was to safeguard the interests of local business owners who were not able to do business at the old site of the Ramadan Bazaar.
