Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Opens For Booking; Estimated RM130k
购买指南Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has officially opened the order books for its new Ioniq Hybrid that is being slated for launch in Malaysia by the end of the year.
Similar to the Prius for Toyota, the Ioniq was developed from the onset by Hyundai to be powered only by electrified powertrains namely hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full electric.
For the Malaysian market, it is confirmed that the hybrid variant is being offered at launch, featuring Hyundai’s 1.6-litre four-cylinder GDI Kappa engine working in tandem with a 44PS electric motor. Combined output of the system is rated at 141PS and 265Nm, delivered to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. A lithium-ion polymer traction battery feeds the electric motor.
The Ioniq’s distinctive styling is influenced by various active and passive aerodynamic features designed to manage airflow around the vehicle. It has an active aero grille, wheel air curtains, rear spoiler, and smooth underbody cover to help achieve a drag coefficient of 0.24.
With a wheelbase measuring 2,700mm, the Ioniq is similar in size to most C-segment sedans in the market. Its body is built with 53.5% advanced high-strength steel and lightweight aluminium.
Notable features of the Ioniq for the Malaysian market include a touchscreen audio visual navigator, dynamic reverse camera, electronic stability control, and seven airbags.
First previewed to Malaysians in My Auto Fest 2016 held at MINES Convention Centre in May, the Ioniq will make another appearance at the same venue on 10 – 13 November 2016 in the Malaysia Autoshow 2016.
Estimated pricing for the Ioniq Hybrid will start from RM130,000 onwards.
