Weissach’s Porsche motorsport department will be unveiling its most track-focussed 911 model, the facelifted GT3 RS with its motorsport tuned chassis, at the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

Following the launch of the 911 GT3 and the 911 GT2 RS, this latest release will see Porsche present its third GT road-approved sports car within a year.

The GT3 RS is powered by a four-litre, naturally-aspirated flat-six that has been fettled to deliver 520 hp (20 hp more than the previous GT3 RS and the current gen GT3), that revs out to 9,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a specially calibrated seven-speed PDK gearbox.

The new 911 GT3 RS is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and reach a top speed of 312 km/h.

The chassis - specifically the rear-axle steering system - has been further refined for better driving dynamics and precision. Elsewhere, ball joints on all chassis arms, lifted straight from Porsche’s motorsport programme, is claimed to provide even greater precision than conventional elastokinematic bearings.

The GT3 RS also wears 20-inch lightweight wheels with newly developed 265/35 sports tyres at the front and 21‑inch wheels with 325/30 tyres at the rear axle for improved traction and precision.

Porsche's motorsport department has also created an optional Weissach package for further weight reduction of the GT3 RS. The package features additional carbon components for the chassis, interior, and exterior, as well as optional magnesium wheels. In its lightest configuration, this package reduces the weight of the 911 GT3 RS down to 1,430 kgs.

The new 911 GT3 RS will be available in Germany from mid-April 2018.
