Set to go on sale in America later this year, the Type R version of the tenth-gen Civic is powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC engine which delivers 306hp and 400Nm of peak torque. Paired with the engine is a short-shifting 6-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching.

The 2018 model introduces enhanced front suspension which comprises retuned springs, new damper and bushing, a dual-axis front suspension, as well as aluminium lower arms and steering knuckles, all designed with one thing in mind – to reduce torque steer. The highlight feature is the Adaptive Suspension System designed to tear up any B-road or track.

Weighing 16kg lesser than the outgoing model, the new Civic Type R will offer its owners three drive modes - Comfort, Sport and +R, and also comes with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) as standard.
