GALLERY: 2015 Peugeot 508 Facelift Previewed, All 3 Variants Captured

The facelifted 2015 Peugeot 508 has arrived in Malaysia, and while its doing the rounds at a local mall near you (probably), we’ve got some shots of all three variants at Peugeot Glenmerie (Nasim Sdn Bhd). 

These new 508s bring with them a new front-end design with a two-tier grille, most obviously, and a shake-up in the variant order as well. Prices are pegged at a tentative RM175k (1.6 THP) to RM205k (2.2 HDI turbo diesel). There will be three variants, starting out with the 508 1.6 THP which replaces the pre-facelift Premium variant, and then sitting above that we have the more premium GT which comes with nicer wheels and dual tailpipes – and GT badging, of course.  Lastly, there is the SW which is nearly identical to the base THP, but with an estate body style and a panoramic glass roof.

It’s also worth noting that it looks like the 508 SW GT, the turbo diesel wagon, has been omitted in the facelift transition to our market, which is a shame, as it was a sharp looking thing on the roads even before the design refresh.

On the inside, 508’s interior is largely unchanged from the pre-facelift model, and is also identical across all three variants, toys and all. There are a few minor differences, however. A quick look at the center console shows that the rotary control dial for the infotainment screen is no longer included; in its place, a shallow pocket with a sliding cover. Where's the dial then? It's gone entirely, because you don't need it anymore. The infotainment screen on the dash is now a touchscreen unit.

As for safety, the 508 includes:

• 5 Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating
• Six airbags
• Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
• Automatic electric parking brake
• Electronic stability program (ESP)
• Dual ISOFIX anchor point support

Under the hood, power is upped from the turbocharged four-cylinder 1.6-litre THP Prince engine that powers the THP sedan and station wagon (SW), now producing 163hp and 240Nm of torque. In the GT sedan, the 4-cylinder 2.2-litre HDI turbodiesel engine produces 203hp and a 450Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, sourced from Japanese maker Aisin, and there are paddle shifters are located behind the steering wheel.
