Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.2L Launched In Malaysia - RM 127,888

Good news for those of you who craved the Wildtrak styling but didn't want to shell out big bucks for the 3.2-litre Ranger. Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has just launched the Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.2-litre variant, which brings the high-end Wildtrak styling and equipment to the entry-level models.

How much is this going to set you back by? The Wildtrak 2.2-litre is priced at RM 127,888 OTR without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia (RM 133,888 for East Malaysia). It's an attractive proposition considering the Wildtrak 3.2-litre goes for RM 139,838, meaning that this is a healthy RM 11,950 less, and only RM 12,800 more than the regular Ranger XLT 2.2-litre which sits at RM 115,088. 

The 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine itself is no slouch, delivering 160 PS at 3,000 rpm, and a torque of 385 Nm between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm. Paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, the Ranger remains fairly competitive in segment despite advancements among competitors. But the brunt of the price difference comes in the form of equipment and styling.

The more obvious Wildtrak exterior is the first difference you notice, but on the inside there's' the SYNC 3 entertainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support. Everything else remains the same, but such is the way of the Ranger model range. 

The new Ranger Wildtrak 2.2L also comes with an early bird offer of two years/40,000km (whichever comes first) free service and maintenance.
