Ford Launches Ranger Splash As A Lazada Exclusive, But It’s Black?

The Ford Ranger Splash is one of those models that holds a dear place in our heart. The bright yellow pickup was an icon among off-road enthusiasts and a budding crowd of lifestyle-oriented pickup truck owners – and Ford has brought it back in partnership with Lazada for their annual 11.11 Shopping Festival in November.

There’s only one problem – it’s not yellow in colour anymore. This new Ranger Splash is mostly black, and will be limited to just 19 units – all sold exclusively on Lazada’s eCommerce platform at a price of RM 138,888. As is the case with cars previously sold on Lazada, the way it works is that you pay a booking fee of RM 1,389, or 1%, on Lazada during the sale in order to claim the car.

From there, a Ford representative will contact you to complete the purchase of the Ranger Splash at your preferred Ford showroom. If you’re quick and among the first 11 to put your booking fees down, you will also receive an RM 500 Petronas gift card if you successfully purchase the car outright. If you’re especially itchy you can use Lazada’s Chup Dulu function to put a small booking fee of just RM 139 from the 28th of October to the 10th of November, and pay the balance on 11.11 itself.

This particular special edition model starts off as a Ranger XLT+, which means it’s powered by a 2.0-litre single turbo diesel, mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission that offers both 4x2 and 4x4 driving capability. What distinguishes the Splash from the XLT+ is its matte black front kangaroo bar, special front grille, side mirror cover, rear bumper, sport bars, alloy wheels and fender flares, as well as a built-in toll reader, 360-degree Around View Monitor Camera, and Ranger Splash decals in a fluorescent yellow along the sides.

To check out the model for yourself, you need only come to Ford Petaling Jaya 2 as the only location the pickup truck will be displayed is within the Sime Darby Auto ConneXion showroom. For those who aren’t familiar with the XLT+ variant, it comes loaded with features like an Easy Lift Tailgate, keyless entry and start, LED daytime running lights and HID headlights, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen display that operates on SYNC 3 for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
