Don't Be An Outlaw When Near A Mitsubishi Outlander

PLUS Malaysia Berhad has contributed 15 units of the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 to the police force to be used as new patrol cars.

The addition of these new SUVs will enhance the effectiveness in enforcing traffic laws during festive seasons, the Inspector-General of Police said.

Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun added, “Out of the 23,000 (vehicles), around 16,900 or 73 per cent have been in service for more than eight years.”

He also thanked the highway concessionaire for the SUVs, valued at RM2 million.

“For the upcoming festivals of Hari Raya Haji, Deepavali and Christmas, we can expect around 80 per cent of the 6,000 to be on duty during that time,” he added.

Fuzi also said that the police will continue to apply for new vehicles from the government to replace the ageing fleet, as he mentioned that vehicular replacement is an ongoing process. “We have detailed the matter to the Home Ministry, and are confident they will bring it up to the Finance Ministry when the time is right,” he concluded.

To recap, the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 is a seven-seater SUV that is powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 167 PS and 222 Nm, mated to a CVT-type automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels via Mitsubishi's AWD system. 

The Outlander models shown here are locally-assembled and are priced at RM155,000 each. Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia also sells a more affordable 2.0-litre version of the Outlander, priced at RM139,988.
