The BMW Group has another Hommage model set for an unveiling soon at the on 22 May 2015 that pays tribute to the BMW 3.0 CSL racer of the 1970s, with its large rear wing and aero pack earning it the moniker “Batmobile”.

Much like 328 Hommage that BMW brought to BMW World Malaysia, the 3.0 CSL Hommage will be seen for the first time at this year’s Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Made to emphasise the qualities that made the original 70s car so successful and memorable, the Hommage will showcase the company’s latest in lightweight construction, aerodynamic design and performance.

BMW say these will all be dressed in a body that is accented by “air deflectors, powerful wheel arches and a prominent roof and rear spoiler”. Subtle curves will adorn the panels around the wheels and roofline to contrast the angular aero components. It is “consummate combination of lightweight design, sportiness and elegance.”

Inside, the 3.0 CSL Hommage makes no use of unnecessary luxuries to stay the course with its lightweight imperative. Each element within the cabin has an integral driver-related function, with materials carefully chosen for tactility, durability and minimal weight while it, as BMW says, displays technical supremacy and formal sophistication.

Given BMW's recent engine choices, they would have no shortage of 3.0-litre powerplants to slot into this Hommage concept.

Here's a closer look at the 328 Hommage plus a little taste of its engine:
