At this year’s M festival held at the Nürburgring race track in Germany, BMW also introduced the new, upgraded Competition Package for the BMW M6 Coupe, BMW M6 Gran Coupe, and BMW M6 Convertible alongside the M6 GT3 racer.

Part of the Competition Package includes a power boost for the TwinPower Turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine in all three models to 600hp and 700Nm of torque (available from 1,500 to 6,000 rpm), a 40hp/20Nm increase.

This bump in power gives the M6 Coupe a century sprint time of 3.9 seconds while the M6 Gran Coupe and Convertible hits 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.0 seconds. All Competition models are by default electronically limited to a 250 km/h top speed but with the optional M Driver’s Package, the figure goes up to 305 km/h.

Power isn’t just the only add-on here. Underneath, the chassis receives a tune-up along with the cars’ springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars to be firmer. The Active M Differential also receives a tweak to allow the driver to “accelerate even more dynamically out of tight corners” while the steering is mapped to provide a sportier handling feel.

Visual changes to differentiate the Competition Package models from the base cars are 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with black chrome twin tailpipes for the sports exhaust system.
