Bangkok 2018: All-New BMW X5 M Sport Previewed, 620 Nm From Turbodiesel

The fourth generation G05 BMW X5 was just unveiled back in June. At the ongoing Thailand International Motor Expo 2018, BMW Group Thailand not only took the wraps off the M850i flagship coupe but also the all-new BMW X5, with both models in right-hand drive placement.    

The local BMW distributor said it was only previewing the all-new BMW X5 and with one single variant, xDrive30d M Sport.

The distinctive M Sport design marks out the all-new X5 with the M aerodynamics package, roof rails in gloss black, and large kidney grille bars finished in matte aluminium.

This display unit has also been fitted with M Sport brakes and 22-inch M light alloy wheels.

The familiar split tail gate is now powered, with the lower door retracting inwards at the touch of the closure switch.

Behind the new design theme kidney grille that is large and almost square in shape lies a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel engine with outputs of 265 hp and 620 Nm peaking briefly from 2,000 to 2,500 rpm.

An eight-speed automatic transmission continues to be present together with the intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive system. The xDrive30d M Sport can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and the top speed is 230 km/h.

Handling and ride comfort duties are tasked by the adaptive M suspension system with non-height-adjustable coil springs.    

The interior meanwhile continues with the current theme of new generation BMWs with a fully digital instrument panel and control display that share same the graphics and design.

Other interior features include a panoramic glass roof whose clear surface is 30% larger than the outgoing model. Advanced driving assistance features include a surround view camera system and a new reversing assistant.
