Alpine A110 On Display At Renault PJ

One of the hottest French cars in the last decade or so has finally arrived - will we be able to buy it? 

One of the more peculiar appearances this month has been the arrival of a relatively compact, mid-engined sports car at one of the Renault dealerships - specifically the one in Petaling Jaya. 

The car in question is the Alpine A110 - and it has been made very clear that this is only a display unit, and not one that's up for sale (yet). Prices have been guesstimated to be anywhere between RM 500,000 and RM 700,000.

For a quick recap, the Alpine A110 is essentially packing the same powertrain as the Renault Megane RS, being a turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine paired exclusively with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.

The Alpine A110 makes 252 PS and 320 Nm of torque, with an impressive kerb weight of 1,103 kg. There is a more fire-breathing version of it known as the A110S that makes 292 PS and various other performance improvements.

A colleague reminded us that there is no smoke if there is no fire. If there is demand might we see this Alpine on Malaysian roads? For now, TC Euro Cars are remaining tight-lipped about any solid interest locally but time will tell...
