All-New Toyota Alphard And Vellfire Makes ASEAN Debut In Thailand

In a bid to put pull ahead of grey importers, Toyota Motor Thailand has just launched the all-new third generation Toyota Alphard and its sportier Vellfire twin yesterday, just three months after the model was launched in Japan.

There will be three variants on offer - the entry model Vellfire 2.5-litre (THB 3,339,000), the mid-range Alphard 2.5-litre Hybrid (THB 3,549,000) and top of the range Alphard 3.5-litre (THB 4,649,000).

The Vellfire 2.5-litre and Alphard 2.5-litre Hybrid are powered by the same 2AR-FE and 2AR-FXE Dual VVT-i engine that was installed in the outgoing Camry and Camry Hybrid (new 2015 model features a newer VVT-iW engine) respectively.

Both the Vellfire 2.5-litre and Alphard 3.5-litre uses a six-speed automatic transmission while the Alphard Hybrid uses planetary gearset E-CVT automatic.

We cannot confirm the airbag count of the Vellfire but both Alphard variants get nine airbags, along with electronic traction and stability control (VSC and TRC, VDIM for Alphard Hybrid) as well as hill start assist control (HAC).

One key differentiator between Toyota Motor Thailand's authorised import Alphard and Vellfire units from the grey import units is their Toyota Motor Thailand's G-Book telematics system which supports Thai languange. More than just a GPS navigation system, G-Book supports various apps that offers not just real time traffic information, but also connects the driver to concierge service for hotel and restaurant bookings, road side assistant and emergency services.

Key highlights for the Toyota Alphard and Alphard Hybrid include Ottoman seats in the second row, twin moon roof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 17 JBL speakers, 9-inch infotainment system for rear passengers (Alphard 3.5-litre only), 'nanoe' triple zone air-conditioning system, hidden ceiling light, personal reading light (Alphard 3.5-litre only), keyless Smart Entry and reverse camera system.  

The lower range Toyota Vellfire makes do with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 8 speakers and 10.2-inch screen for rear passengers.
