All-New Nissan Terra Goes On Sale In China, Other Markets Soon

The all-new Nissan Terra has officially gone on sale in China, the first ladder frame-based SUV that is launched under the “Nissan MOVE to 2022” midterm plan.

Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president for Nissan's Light Commercial Vehicle Business said, "The Nissan Terra builds on our strong SUV heritage while incorporating the needs of the Asian customer and the performance of our refined frame vehicles. The Terra is a descendant of the Nissan Patrol, our tough off-road icon originally designed for police and military use."

Power comes from a 2.5-litre QR25 petrol engine that outputs 180 hp and 251 Nm, sent to all four wheels via Nissan’s 4WD system. For added offroad credibility, the all-new Nissan Terra features 4WD-Diff lock, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. A six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic can be had.

As for the all-new Nissan Terra’s safety equipment, the five-seater SUV can be had with the Nissan Safety Shield suite of active driver assist, including Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and Intelligent Emergency Braking.

For the China market, six variants of the all-new Nissan Terra are available, with prices starting from RMB 168,800 (~RM 105,080) for the base model, all the way up to RMB 245,800 (~RM152,112) for the range-topping model.

Last month, the folks over at headlightmag posted a lone spyshot of what appears to be the Nissan Terra doing road tests in Thailand, indicating that the Land Of Smiles will soon be getting the new SUV. The Thai market Nissan Terra is expected to feature some changes compared to the China market Terra, including a seven-seater option and a diesel engine. The move is in line with Nissan’s plan of introducing the Terra to other Asian markets later this year.
