Development is said to be led by Ford’s Asia-Pacific Product Development office based in Melbourne, which was also responsible for developing the current T6 model. The familiar 2.2-litre 4-cylinder and 3.2-litre 5-cylinder diesel mills are set to be discontinued and will be replaced by a new-generation 2.0-litre EcoBlue 4-cylinder and a 3.0-litre PowerStroke V6 developed in collaboration with the PSA Group and former subsidiary Land Rover. Petrol engines are set to take on added importance, as Ford now has the US market in mind as well. There will be at least two turbocharged petrol engines speculated to include the familiar 2.0-litre EcoBoost mill currently powering the Mondeo and S-Max as well as the 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine.
