2017 Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Turbo Launched In Malaysia; 177PS, RM146k

The earlier-teased Hyundai Tucson 1.6 T-GDI is now officially launched in the Malaysian market, uprating the C-segment SUV’s performance to match turbocharged peers such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and soon-to-come Honda CR-V 1.5 VTEC Turbo.

Following this launch, the Tucson is now available locally with a choice of three variants:

• 2.0 Elegance: RM133,888.00
• 2.0 Executive: RM146,888.00
• 1.6 T-GDI: RM149,890.47

Whilst the naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre models produce 155PS and 192Nm channelled to the front wheels by a 6-speed conventional automatic transmission, the new Tucson 1.6 T-GDI generates a comparatively higher 177PS @ 5,500rpm and 265Nm @ 1,500 to 4,500rpm, sent also to the front wheels by a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

New features to the Tucson 1.6 T-GDI include LED headlamps with static cornering lights, powered tailgate, and front parking camera.

Standard rim sizing measures 17 inches like the 2.0-litre models, but 19-inch wheels are available as optional upgrades along with exterior bodykit and interior leather upholstery package in either red or white colour.

For aftersales, all variants of the Tucson are covered by a 3-year / 50,000km free service package together with Hyundai’s 5-year / 300,000km warranty; 24-hour road assist service is also available for all new and existing Hyundai vehicle owners.
