2017 BMW 5 Series (G30) – Now Locally Assembled, RM10k Cheaper

Seven months after its introduction in Malaysia in fully imported form, the all-new G30 generation BMW 5 Series is now locally-assembly at the company’s assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah. It is the eleventh BMW model (including variants) to be assembled at Kulim.

As before, the 5 Series is currently only available in a single variant – the 530i M Sport.

The switch to local assembly comes after the successful delivery of over 1,000 units of the fully-imported 530i M Sport by BMW Group Malaysia.

Aesthetic highlights of the new locally-assembled 530i M Sport are same as the outgoing fully-imported model - M Aerodynamics components, M Sport brake, M light-alloy wheels, M specific pedals, and M leather steering wheels from the M Sport package.

The model retains the new 5 Series’ signature BMW Display Key, a key fob with a small LCD display showing the vehicle’s status, as well BMW Gesture Control that allows the driver to control the infotainment system by simply waving specific hand gestures.

Safety features are also the same as before, including a comprehensive list of advanced driving assistance systems - Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, Approach Control Warning & Person Warning, Collision Warning, and Park Assistant.

The new locally-assembled BMW 530i M Sport will be available in the colours of Alpine White, Mediterranean Blue, Sophisto Grey and two additional colours, Carbon Black Metallic and Bluestone Metallic.

The interior will be trimmed in Leather Dakota upholstery, with two colour choices - Black and Cognac.

Like many locally-assembled BMW models, the new 530i M Sport’s RM388,800 price (excluding insurance) is made possible by Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) status incentives. The previous fully-imported version of the same 530i M Sport used to sell for RM398,800 (excluding insurance).

Like all new BMW models sold by authorized BMW dealers, the 530i M Sport is covered by a 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program, 2 Years BMW Tyre Warranty Programme and backed by BMW Malaysia’s 5 Years New Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline Program.
