2016 Volkswagen Golf VII Re-Specced with Two New Variants; Price from RM150k

Volkswagen Malaysia has re-organized its model portfolio for the Golf VII by splitting its sole 1.4 TSI variant to two trim levels, both being offered at reduced prices with the upper model getting improved levels of equipment.

From the outgoing version’s price of RM163,888 (retail, without on-road costs), the re-specced Golf VII is available in the following two variants:

• 1.4 TSI Comfortline – RM149,888
• 1.4 TSI Highline – RM159,888

As with the current model, the re-specced Golf VII for Malaysia is powered by Volkswagen’s latest EA211 1.4-litre TSI petrol direct injection engine. Takers of the new variants enjoy a 10PS hike in outputs to 150PS, which is accompanied by 250Nm of torque available from 1,500 to 3,500rpm.

Paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission as before, the Golf 1.4 TSI is able to complete the century sprint in just 8.2 seconds. Official fuel economy remains unchanged from before, being quoted at 5.0 litres/100km under the European combined cycle.

Equipment levels of the re-specced Golf VII are as follows:

1.4 TSI Comfortline

• 16-inch alloy wheels
• Halogen reflector headlamps – Manual level adjustment
• Comfort seats
• Multi-function leather steering wheel
• Manual climate control
• Front and rear parking sensors

1.4 TSI Highline

• 17-inch alloy wheels
• Front fog lights
• LED tail lamps (like Golf R)
• Bi-xenon headlamps
• Sports seats
• Cruise control
• Auto climate control (Climatronic)
• Keyless entry (KESSY) 
• Rest assist
• Park assist – parallel and perpendicular entry

From the above items, KESSY, Rest Assist, and Park Assist are new features previously unavailable with Malaysia-spec units of the Golf. 

Both variants of the updated Golf 1.4 TSI are available for booking immediately at Volkswagen showrooms nationwide, being offered with a selection of six colours – Limestone Grey, Sunset Red, Pure White, Deep Black, Pacific Blue, and Tungsten Silver
