2015 Volkswagen Beetle Club Edition Launched In Malaysia: 1.2 TSI From RM153k

We’ve shown you all about it from the outside, during its preview tour at the Pavilion KL mall, but here it is in the metal, officially launched by Volkswagen Group Malaysia.

The Beetle Club Edition is a special model, and as such, is limited to a sale of just 50 units – yes, you better act fast for this one. The special model is available at selected Volkswagen authorised dealerships, and will only be available while stocks last.

Fully imported from Mexico, the Beetle Club Edition isn’t simply your average model dressed up with more kit. Part of a global initiative, the Volkswagen Group itself allocated the 50 units of the car for Malaysia, making this a pretty special bug indeed.

How much? Well, you’ll have to drop a firm RM152,888 to be a part of this exclusive club.

Prior to the Beetle Club Edition’s introduction, Volkswagen Group Malaysia’s Beetle line-up consisted of just the 1.2 TSI Design and 1.2 TSI Sport variants, each retailing from RM135,888 and RM140,888 respectively (without insurance and road tax).

So, what’s so special about the Beetle Club Edition?

Well, there’s quite a bit actually. Powering the Beetle Club Edition is the same 105 PS, 175Nm of torque 1.2-litre turbocharged engine available to the current range of Beetles sold in Malaysia, paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

No surprises to the power figures, there are a few significant updates to the cosmetic end of the car. Here’s that in further detail:

EXTERIOR: Starting with what’s outside, the Beetle Club Edition is treated to a special ‘Habanero Orange’ shade of metallic body paint, very stylish 17-inch ‘Ravenna’ alloy wheels, and wing mirrors finished in black.

A special “Club” insignia can be seen just ahead of the rear wheel arches.

INTERIOR: Step into the car, and a special ‘Calypso Orange’ paint is splashed in places of the interior trim and on the seat upholstery, while the dash and centre console get a special ‘Twist Wave Dark’ cubic film laid over. The special ‘Club’ lettering is again featured on the bottom of the steering wheel.

The seats upholstery themselves are an exclusive ‘Vienna’ leather sport seat type.

Drivers and passengers alike may appreciate the free upgrade of the infotainment head unit from a Radio RCD 310 (Design variant)/ RCD 510 (Sport variant) to a 5.8-inch Composition Media player – a similar head unit to that found in the more premium Golf GTI, but without the proximity sensing feature.
