Volkswagen Golf TSI BlueMotion Revealed: 1.0-Litre Engine Consumes Just 4.3 Litres Per 100KM! Auto News Gerard | June 03, 2015 02:38 pm The German car maker recently unveiled the Volkswagen Golf TSI BlueMotion which is claimed to be as fuel efficient as a diesel engine car, managing a fuel economy figure of 4.3 litres/100km. It is also the first Golf BlueMotion with a petrol engine, which was previously only available in diesel (TDI) and natural gas (TGI) versions. To live up to those claims, an EA211 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged TSI engine resides under the hood paired to either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Power output stands at 115PS and 200Nm of torque, with Volkswagen claiming the latter to be the highest specific torque of any large-scale production series of petrol engines (200 Nm per litre).Regardless of the drivetrain combination selected, the Golf TSI BlueMotion will still achieve the claimed fuel economy figure while emitting just 99 gram/km of CO2. A drag coefficient (Cd) value of just 0.28 also helps in the effort to reduce fuel consumption. On a side note, if you’re interested in its performance figures, the eco Golf will hit a top speed of 204 km/h.The TSI BlueMotion variant is also extended to two other Golf body styles, the Estate and Sportsvan albeit with slightly differing fuel economy figures. On the manual gearbox Golf Estate, an average of 4.3l/100km is attainable (4.5l/100km with the DSG), while the Golf Sportsvan in manual guise average 4.5l/100km and 4.6l/100km when fitted with a DSG.Two levels of trim will be offered – Trendline and Comfortline with the former having a starting price of 20,450 euros (RM83,779) which makes it the cheapest Golf BlueMotion. Standard exterior features of the Golf TSI BlueMotion Trendline include 15-inch “Lyon” alloy wheels, XDS+ electronic differential lock, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. Move up to the Comfortline and additional features include a ParkPilot system, a more exclusive instrument cluster, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, and 16-inch “Dover” alloy wheels. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
