The 6/7-seater MPV has been teased for some time, promising a revised exterior and an improved safety suite. The 2021 Innova, which starts at RM111,622 will definitely be recognised for its larger front grille that’s given a duotone black and chrome finish that matches the door mirrors. Aside from that, the fog lamp and fog lamp bezels have also been redesigned. 2021 Toyota Innova 2.0E - from RM111,622 2021 Toyota Innova 2.0G - from RM121,483 2021 Toyota Innova 2.0X - from RM129,677 As before, the Innova X sits at the top of the range, but now includes an exclusive Enhancement Package that gives it an even bolder appearance. Along with the carried over 17-inch wheels, albeit with a new Dark Grey Metallic colour, these cosmetic additions include new wheel arch mouldings, new bodyside mouldings, and new side skirts that add a touch of sportiness. Moving on to the rear end, the boot door garnish has been restyled to give the Innova an added sense of width. Only the Innova X receives the additional boot spoiler, though. Under the bonnet is the familiar 1TR-FE 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine, producing 139PS and 183Nm that gets transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic. This sole engine and transmission combo powers all 3 variants of the 2021 Innova. Inside, Toyota has added some very welcome new features to keep it at the head of the pack. Just like before, each Innova is equipped with 7 airbags, though this year’s version further earns its 5-star ANCAP rating with the standard fitment of Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RTCA) on the Innova 2.0X and midrange 2.0G. That said, buyers of the baseline 2.0E can still spec these up as an optional extra. Another prominent feature add is the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) which uses an array of cameras around the vehicle’s body to form a 360-degree view of its surroundings to better navigate tight spaces. As a direct response from customer feedback, not only has all the USB ports been upgraded to include Fast Charging capability, the 2021 Innova has also had its 2 front USB ports repositioned to the dashboard (instead of the centre console) for easier access. Third-row passengers also now have their own USB ports to call their own. No more overly long cables or having to bring your own power bank if you’re relegated to the back-most seats. This facelift comes in six exterior colours to select from: There are six exterior colour choices – Medium Silver Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Phantom Brown, Silver Metallic, Super White II and Bronze Mica Metallic (new). For the Innova 2.0X, there is an additional choice of Crimson Spark Red Metallic. As the cherry on top, like most new cars offered by UMW Toyota, the 2021 Innova comes with a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage.
