Two More Honda Models To Come After All-New 2017 CR-V - City Hybrid and HR-V Hybrid?
Auto NewsHonda Malaysia had earlier this year confirmed at least four new launches for our market in 2017. Halfway through the year, the company already has three launches on the board the fourth all but confirmed as the all-new CR-V that just opened for bookings last week.
To date, the company’s launches in Malaysia have included the BR-V along with facelifted versions of the City and Jazz, the latter unveiled earlier today. At the launch event this morning in Kuala Lumpur, Honda officials announced that a further two launches may happen before the year comes to an end.
What those two models will be are anyone’s guess, and speculation is bound to be rife. Looking at Honda’s current line-up, the company is already well-represented in all key segments for both passenger cars and crossovers. Our bet is that these two launches refer to new variants of existing models possibly hybrid variants to follow this morning’s launch of the Jazz Hybrid.
As far back as November 2013, Carlist.my was told that the City Hybrid were being planned for launch in Malaysia. The City Hybrid is powered by the same 1.5-litre Sport Hybrid i-DCD powertrain as seen in the Jazz. Our guess is that the probably of this being one of the two models slated for launch is high.
The HR-V is another vehicle that could potentially receive the 1.5 Sport Hybrid powertrain for our market. Sold in Japan as the Vezel Hybrid, this vehicle shares a high quantity of common components with the City Hybrid and Jazz Hybrid, making it a good candidate to further benefit from EEV incentives from the Government.
