Auto News

It was only a matter of time before the Toyota Gazoo World Rally Team would find their footing. This year they're clawing themselves back up, and with the addition of Ott Tänak to their roster, the team is seeing more and more points coming their way. They are currently third overall in the manufacturer standings, just one point behind second place and 27 points from first.

The most recent round of the World Rally Championship took place over the last weekend, and saw Toyota taking both first and third places on the podium. Ott Tänak naturally took top spot, with 12 stage victories as well. He had a 32.7 seconds lead over the competition, and Jari-Matti Latvala took third, missing second by just 2.8 seconds.

While Finland is the homeground for the Toyota team, given that Tommi Makinen is the team principal, it's still worth noting that the team managed to clock the fastest times in 18 out of 23 stages. The next round of the series will return to tarmac at the ADAC Rallye Deutschland from the 16th to 19th of August.
