This Honda Yearbook Ad Will Make You Go Look for Your High School Photo Album

Auto News

Another day, another super bowl ad; and Honda just released what appears to be one of the coolest commercials of this year featuring some pretty big names in Hollywood to promote the new CR-V.

In line with the spirit of ‘Throwback Thursdays’, Honda aptly released the ad called “Yearbooks” yesterday in which high school yearbook versions of Amy Adams, Steve Carrell, Viola Davis, Missy Elliot, Tina Fey, Magic Johnson, Jimmy Kimmel, Robert Redford, and Stan Lee talk about their journeys toward success, and never giving up on your dreams.

The ad then shows how the CR-V, which was first introduced in the U.S during the Super Bowl 20 years ago, has evolved from being the “young kid dreaming of making it big” to the best-selling SUV in the country.

It is also worth mentioning that this will be the third time the CR-V has made a Super Bowl appearance after 1997 and in 2012.

Revealed in October last year, the 2017 CR-V has been completely redesigned and reengineered, boasts bold new styling, a more premium interior, and most importantly comes with a turbocharged engine and a host of new features and technologies.

On the exterior level, the new CR-V’s styling heads in a fresh new direction with a sharper front-end design, LED DRL array on all trims, a new grille, new wheel design, muscular fenders, longer hood, longer wheelbase, short rear overhang, and dual exhausts.

Under the hood, the 2017 CR-V is powered by either a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 190hp or a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated direct injection engine – both paired to a CVT with Honda’s G-Shift control.

Already on sale in the U.S, we expect the new CR-V to be introduced here later this year.
