The Evolution of Headlights
InsightsIn the early days of motoring, everything on the car was manually controlled, and we are not just talking about the transmission or the windows. We mean everything; like turning the wipers manually with your hand, cranking the engine by hand (and we don’t mean twisting the ignition key), even lighting the head lights yourself – with matches!
In 1903, cars used paraffin lamps as headlamps, which is merely a fancier version of a household candle.
Electric headlamps were introduced in 1920 and since then, the automotive lighting technology has progressed to include Xenons, LEDs and now – Audi’s laser headlights.
