The AMG Speedway Is Mercedes-AMG's First Racetrack

Auto News

It's not uncommon for car companies to buy over or sponsor racetracks for a little bit of branding in return, and the latest company to do so is Mercedes-AMG, with their AMG Speedway in South Korea. Being a budding market for AMG models, South Korea was the perfect place to take over a racetrack.

The 4.3-kilometre long circuit is only 38 kilometres from Gangnam, the upmarket district within Seoul city. In addition to the various branding around the circuit, Mercedes-AMG set up an AMG lounge for community discussion and personal exchanges with AMG experts.

The racetrack itself has been around since 1995, being a permanent fixture for South Korean motorsports. It was extensively renovated and reconfigured in 2011, with 17 turns and a bridge making for an exciting drive. There's no doubt that Mercedes-AMG will be using the track for performance days and roadshows as well as driver training in the future, not just for South Korea but for the region as well.
