The 2021 Isuzu D-Max Will Come With More Than We Expected

Generally, you expect models sold here to mirror specifications in Thailand, but the Isuzu D-Max seems to go further.

We've already talked about how the all-new Isuzu D-Max is going to be quite the step up from the outgoing model - one Malaysians are so very familiar with because pickup truck generational changes are half as frequent as our general elections (every eight to ten years really). Thanks to an updated page from Isuzu Malaysia, we get a bit more information about this heavily anticipated model.

As we mentioned with the D-Max in the UK, our local unit will get many advanced driver assistance features - most notably Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, which has given the incoming D-Max a Euro NCAP 5-star rating. There is also adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and multi-collision braking.

There will be two engines on offer - a 1.9-litre turbodiesel and a 3.0-litre turbodiesel, both being part of the BluePower family of engines. The former pushes 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque, while the latter does 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque - a significant improvement over its predecessors. As you already know, these engines are incredibly efficient if you drive them carefully.

Estimated pricing stands with the range-topping variant going for RM 145,000, and entry-level variants going for RM 89,000. Naturally the more expensive variants will get more kit, but most variants should get seven airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, traction and stability control, hill start and descent assist systems, all-round parking sensors, and a reverse camera.
