Thailand Forces Insurers to Cut Premiums if a Dash Cam is Installed
Auto NewsIn an interesting turn of events, Thai insurers are being forced to drop insurance premiums by 5-10% for cars if they come equipped with dash cams- as reported by The Bangkok Post. These small mounted cameras, usually front facing but occasionally with a rear view as well, have proven to be quite effective in other countries at settling disputes if and when they occur.
The order was signed by Suthiphon Thaveechaiyagarn, secretary-general of the Office of Insurance Commission, and published in the Royal Gazette with effect immediately. In order to benefit from this, owners must take a photo of the dashcam being installed for the front of their cars. The rule applies to any kind of vehicle that can have a dash cam fitted.
