Home News Auto News Subaru Launches New Outback, Comes With EyeSight, RM 246,188.40 Subaru Launches New Outback, Comes With EyeSight, RM 246,188.40 Auto News Aswan | July 27, 2018 05:56 pm At the ongoing Carlist.my DRIVE: Auto Fair 2018, TC Subaru Sdn Bhd officially launched the new Subaru Outback in a singular variant. The highlight with this model is the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which offers a range of safety functions through a pair of stereoscopic cameras. For now, it's available in a singular 2.5i-S EyeSight variant that goes for RM 246,188.40, without insurance.Other key highlights for the Outback are items that are hallmarks of the Subaru model range. X-MODE, for example, optimizes engine and drivetrain control when going off the beaten path, taking control of the brakes as well when necessary. Think of it as Subaru's version of all-terrain systems found in higher end luxury SUVs. STABLEX-Ride also makes an appearance, offering better body control and ride quality for a more composed drive. From a mechanical standpoint, this new Outback gets a slightly revised 2.5-litre naturally aspirated boxer engine, pair with an updated CVT gearbox that has a 7-speed manual mode, better throttle response, and a shorter pitch chain drive for reduced noise. Fuel efficiency as a result has improved by 3%, although the driving enjoyment aspect has also greatly improved thanks to the manual shift modes. On the practicality side of things, new USB ports have been included in the back of the centre console, as well as additional microphones for better voice recognition. A new premium infotainment system also comes with this new Outback, with an eight-inch high-resolution screen, smartphone connectivity, and access to applications through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For safety systems, besides the aforementioned EyeSight system, there is also the addition of Steering Responsive Headlights that change angle depending on how you turn the wheel. This improves visibility during low light situations and makes it easier for the driver to see what's around corners. Additional cameras positioned in the lower part of the front grille and side mirrors offer all-round visibility, similar to the birds-eye view system found in other cars. The new Outback can be had in a variety of colours (Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Platinium Grey Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Blue Pearl, and Tungsten Metallic), but this new model brings with it Wilderness Green Metallic, Crimson Red Pearl, and Oak Brown Pearl. For those who are interested to view the car, you can head on over to the Carlist.my DRIVE: Auto Fair 2018 to see the car in the metal, from the 27th to the 29th of July, 2018. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
