If the name wasn’t a giveaway, under the hood of the Impreza Sport Hybrid is a 2.0-litre boxer four-cylinder engine developing 148hp with a 13hp electric motor installed in the Lineartronic CVT transmission to provide a smoother acceleration. The drivetrain also features Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD and boasts a fuel economy of 20.4 km per liter.

Both variants of the new Impreza Hybrid Sport come with the brand’s EyeSight driver assist technologies that works with the hybrid drivetrain to ensure maximum efficiency when the Eco-Cruise Control function is enabled, ensuring maximum use of electric vehicle driving and regenerative braking when Adaptive Cruise Control is operational.

Styling-wise, the hybrid model receives new front and rear bumpers which appear sportier, side skirts, a roof spoiler, and LED headlights. Wider 215/50 series tyres are also fitted on the 17-inch wheels, replacing the 205/50 series ones. Inside, blue accents highlights the cabin alongside piano-black and metallic pieces of trim. The ‘S’ variant gets Ultrasuede 3 seats with blue stitching and power seats for the front driver and passenger.

The Subaru Impreza Sport Hybrid is the second hybrid vehicles from the Japanese car maker after the Subaru XV Hybrid was introduced in 2013 and will begin sales in Japan on July 10.
