Subaru Forester GT Edition Previewed In Singapore – Arriving In Malaysia Next Year

Motor Image, the authorised distributor of Subaru vehicles across eight markets in Asia, has unveiled the new Subaru Forester GT Edition at the ongoing 2019 Subaru Palm Challenge in Singapore.

The special edition Forester is the second GT Edition model by Motor Image after the XV GT Edition – created in close collaboration with engineering company Giken Co. Ltd, and Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi, the former Chief Designer at Subaru Corporation who was responsible for the exterior design of more than 12 Subaru production models including the legendary WRX STI.

The special GT Edition comes with an aero kit which comprises sportier looking front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a roof spoiler, as well as a rear bumper extension.

Also part of the package is a set of 18-inch bespoke alloy wheels, unique leather seats, and a new 8-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a 360-degree Around View Monitor camera.

Based on the Forester 2.0i-S EyeSight variant, the Forester GT is mechanically identical to the former, underpinned by Subaru’s Global Platform and powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre direct-injected flat-four engine making 156 PS and 196 Nm of torque.

Paired to the engine is Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT gearbox and a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

In terms of features, the Forester GT Edition gets LED headlights with DRLs, keyless entry and ignition, eight-way powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, 6 airbags, stability control, and Subaru’s EyeSight driver assistance package which comprises Pre-Collision Braking (PCB), Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Sway Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), as well as Lead Vehicle Start Alert.

The Subaru Forester GT Edition will make its first public appearance at the Taipei International Auto Show in December 2019, followed by the Singapore Motorshow in January 2020, the Bangkok International Motor Show in March 2020, and the Manila International Auto Show in April 2020.

The Malaysian launch is expected to take place in Q1 2020.
