Spyshot: All-New Hyundai Sonata Spotted In Malaysia
Auto NewsHaving made its global debut earlier this year, the all-new Hyundai Sonata has just been spotted in Malaysia.
However, don’t get too excited as this is not the first time a weird Hyundai has been spotted here. A couple of months back, a Kona Electric was spotted along the Kesas Highway. In fact, a reader also sent a photo of a Hyundai Palisade parked next to the Sonata.
The explanation for the appearance of these models is simple – Hyundai’s regional training centre is located right here in Malaysia.
It remains unclear if Hyundai Sime-Darby Motors will introduce the all-new Sonata here as the D-segment market is shrinking and sales of the Elantra is rather poor.
To recap, the all-new Hyundai Sonata is the eighth iteration of Hyundai's successful mid-size sedan, built on a new platform. Hyundai engineers designed the platform to channel air in and around the engine bay to improve performance, cooling, and aerodynamics. Depending on markets, either a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine is available. Both engines share an eight-speed automatic transmission, driving the front wheels.
