Spied: 2017 BMW 740Le (G12) Spotted In Malaysia
Auto NewsWell, looks like BMW Malaysia will be launching its new flagship model real soon, as we were tipped about the arrival of the new 2017 BMW 740Le iPerformance.
Thanks to a tip from one of our readers, a video uploaded on YouTube shows a unit of the BMW 740Le spotted in the compound of an official BMW dealership in Malaysia.
Under the hood of the BMW 740Le iPerformance is a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo that outputs 258 hp and 400 Nm, which is assisted by BMW's eMotor with 113 hp and 250 Nm. Out goes the bulky torque converter, replaced by the eMotor. Globally, BMW offers the 740Le in both xDrive and RWD formats. The xDrive variant completes the century sprint in 5.3 seconds, whilst the RWD variant is 0.1 seconds slower at 5.4 seconds.
Seeing that the new 740Le is positioned as BMW Malaysia's flagship model, we can see that the new model will be equipped with BMW's LaserLight LED headlights and Sky Lounge Panorama glass roof. The iPerformance moniker also means that the 740Le will receive the eDrive button that allows the driver to manipulate the car's hybrid system, which includes Auto eDrive and Max eDrive. Similar to regular 7 Series models, the plug-in hybrid variant of the 740Le also gets the Driving Experience Control that offers Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport and Adaptive driving modes.
In terms of pricing, the entry-level BMW 730Li retails for RM598,800, whilst its bigger brother, the 740Li will set buyers back for RM788,800. The Mercedes-Benz S400h, thanks to its EEV incentives, retails for RM598,888. We understand that the upcoming BMW 740Le iPerformance will be locally assembled, so expect it to be priced competitively.
Thanks to William for the tip!
