Shanghai 2019: Lexus LM Debuts – Redefining Luxury

Auto News

First teased late last month, Lexus has finally taken the covers off its first-ever luxury MPV called the LM at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show.

As correctly predicted, the new Lexus LM is built on the Toyota Alphard, more specifically, the Royal Lounge variant of the people mover. The model shown at the Shanghai Auto Show is the ultra-luxurious four-seater version of the people mover, but Lexus will also offer a seven-seater version of the LM.

The list of creature comforts on the Lexus LM is rather extensive, including a 26-inch flat screen TV, a refrigerator, umbrella storage, ventilated seats, and a touch screen control panel. The touch screen control panel can control the seat position, massage function, air-conditioning controls as well as audio functions.

Depending on the market its sold in, the Lexus LM will be offered as the LM 350 or LM 300h. The former will be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, while the latter will be powered by a 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. In addition to that, Lexus also said that the LM will be available as a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive model.

The new Lexus LM will be introduced in China and selected Asian markets in the coming months.
