Road Tax Renewal Exemption Extended Until 31st May 2021

Auto News

Transport Minister Dr. Wee Ka Siong has announced that private vehicle owners with road tax or driver’s license expiring from Feb 1st to March 31st 2021 have until 31st May 2021 to renew provided their vehicle insurance is valid.

This second extension of the exemption is to allow private owners more time so as to not overwhelm and overcrowd Road Transport Department (JPJ) offices during the current MCO period. The first exemption extension in 2021 was announced on 29th January 2021, which allowed an exemption until the end of April which now proceeds onto the end of May 2021.

Separately, Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and Competent Driving Licences (CDL) which expire in April and May, may renew them between 1st June – to 31st July 2021.

Dr. Wee further advised private owners to renew their motor vehicle insurance and roadtax online to reduce overcrowding and risk exposure during the MCO period.
